Klausen Race 2006 at full speed

Klausen Race 2006: the governments of Glarus and Uri have issued the permits.

In the meantime both governments of Glarus and Uri have issued basic permits for the Klausen Race Memorial 2006. With these two approvals at hand the Klausen Race Organization Committee has reached an important stage.

As early as the beginning of 2004 the new Organization Committee Klausen Race was formed around the builder Fritz Trümpi of the Glarner construction firm Fritz Trümpi AG. The chief organizer of the past three Memorial Races, Bernhard Brägger, joined in as a consultant. Aside from new members, partners of previous events joined the Committee (Race Leader, Head Racing Course), which therefore could take advantage of the existing technical know-how.The new Organization Committee began to work some time ago. The basic concept has been born and its realization is about to be tackled. Particularly the search for sponsors and the recruiting of the numerous, indispensable help force demand priority. The 21,5 km long course is a tremendous logistical challenge: 300 track marshals alone are needed for the race track, which is also the only possibility of access to the race. The official headquarters of the Organisation Committee Klausen Race are in Glarus, Rathausgasse 22.

The Klausen Race will take place from September 21st to September 24 th, 2006. Historic race- and sport-vehicles built in 1939or before will qualify for the race. For logistical reasons the field of participants is restricted to 250 exclusive vehicles. Two categories are classified: a test of conformity and a speed trial. Invitations for registration were sent off at the beginning of 2005. It is the aim of the Organization Committee Klausen Race to organize this world-famous and widely-known event every three years.

Programme of the 4 th International Klausen Race Memorial 2006:

- Thursday, September 21st, 2006: Official registering of vehicles, in Glarus, Landsgemeindeplatz

- Friday, September 22nd, 2006, 1st training run

- Saturday, September 23rd, 2006, 2nd training run and 1st race

- Sunday, September 24th, 2006, 2nd race, awards ceremony in Linthal
