| 1993 |
| On July 25th, 1993, the Klausen Race was reborn. More than 400 historic sports- and race cars, race motor bicycles and three-wheelers, all from the time of the historic Klausen Race, challenged Caracciola’s record from the year 1934. |
| 1998 |
In 1998 they came once more to Linthal from all over Europe : Auto Union, Alfa Romeo, Bugatti, Maserati, Mercedes, ERA, MG, NSU or Scott. The 25’000 spectators along the race course again felt transferred back to the time of the howling compressors of the twenties and thirties. Caracciola’s record was broken no less than 22 times. The English Julian Majzub with a Bugatti 35 B set a new record with 13.49.08 minutes on the meanwhile asphalt-paved and partly reconstructed course! One of the great highlights of the Klausen Race Memorial 1998 was the 60 years old Auto Union 16-cylinder hill-climb race car. |
| 2002 |
The Klausen Memorial 2002 once again had legendary race cars at the starting line: an Alfa-Romeo 158, the famous “Alfetta” which in its most powerful version with 1.5 litre engine produced 425 HP and, in 1950, helped Farina and in 1951 Fangio to win the world championship. In addition the only still running Bugatti Typ 53 with four wheel drive, two Maserati 4 CL, a 16-cylinder car of the type C from Auto Union participated. More than 30 Bugatti were a powerful magnet for all spectators. Amongst the 150 registered motorcycles were original bikes, which in fact had already taken part in historic Klausen races, namely a Harley-Davidson (1929), a Condor (1932) and a Motosacoche (1934).
In the first race on Saturday the Morgan Three-Wheelers, running on alcohol, were the public ’s favourites. Of all the drivers Bill Tuer from Liverpool scored best time of the day with his machine: 14 minutes 39 seconds. He won the main race and, as a trophy, he took home the largest rock-crystal. |
